Margaret is an executive coach and freelance strategy consultant. She works primarily with senior executives and their leadership teams. The work she has done ranges from personal one-on-one coaching, through strategic interventions in organisations to leadership interventions with senior executive teams. She has a wealth of corporate experience in both line management and consulting capacities.
Professional Background
Margaret has spent a major part of her long and varied career working in financial services (banking, investment management and insurance) in line management, executive, Board and consulting roles. She has also worked in retail and manufacturing as a consultant. Her roles in line management have ranged across various disciplines including IT, Sales, HR and Marketing. Her most recent role has been as a member of the Group Executive team at Sanlam where she was accountable for Group Marketing. She worked at leadership team level heading up the financial services practices and the organisation development practices of both Gemini consulting and the Monitor Group in South Africa. She has worked with organisations both locally and globally on developing competitive strategies and in the implementation of major organisational change efforts.
Coaching Work
Margaret has been coaching formally since 2002 in a variety of organisations. She has worked primarily with senior executives who are tasked with strategic leadership in the
organisation. She has also been a coach to identified high flyers in organisations, working with them on developmental aspects of their careers. Since leaving full-time employ in executive management, she has once again focused on coaching.
Educational Background
Margaret has a BSc in Physics and Mathematics as well as a BSc Hons in Physics from Wits University. She also holds a BA Hons in Psychology from UNISA and a Masters in Human Resource Management from the Wits Business School. She is a certified Integral Coach having completed the training requirements of the International Coaching Federation through the Professional Coaching Course of New Ventures West (USA) run at the Centre for Coaching at the Graduate School of Business at UCT.
